Shobha Majumder the 85 years old “Bangla’r nijer meye” (Bengal’s own daughter) who was attacked by TMC workers a couple of weeks ago breathed her last in the wee hours of Monday.

She was attacked because her son happens to be from BJP. On the day of this incidents she was heard saying that she is having difficulty in breathing and all her body is in grievous pain. She was also heard sharing that she is aghast as the TMC gundas have threatened her after beating her mercilessly. As per Doctor’s report “pulmonary respiratory failure due to internal haemorrhage” has been identified as the reason of her death.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister of State for Woman and Child Development Debasree Chaudhuri said: “Gopal Majumdar was a BJP supporter and worker. TMC’s miscreants attacked Gopal. Gopal and his elderly mother lived there, and his mother tried to save him but TMC’s goons brutally attacked his mother…She was admitted to the Apollo Hospital for 27 days, today morning she passed away. What kind of system is this? Where is West Bengal going that an elderly mother has to be attacked like this.”

No comment has been given out so far by any TMC spokesperson . Even no action has been taken by police so far .

Will the democracy manage to survive in this scenario of law and order in this state is yet to be seen ? And even if it survives then at what cost? How many more Shobha Majumder will be killed before that is yet to be seen ?
