Several Hindu organizations in the USA have declared October as ‘Hindu Heritage Month’. According to the press release by the World Hindu Council of America – VHPA, “Dharmabased organizations, including those of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain traditions from around the world, are pleased to announce the addition of another major festival, indeed an entire month of festivals, in October as the Hindu Heritage Month.”

Now, taking this further, the States of Florida and Texas have also declared to celebrate October as a ‘Hindu Heritage Month’During the month of October 2021, the Hindu community across the State of Florida and across the nation will collectively celebrate Hindu heritage. Ron DeSantis, Governor of the State of Florida, extended greetings and best wishes to all observing October 2021, as Hindu Heritage Month.

He said that Florida is proud of its rich cultural history and the many people who call our state home and Florida is home to a vibrant Hindu community. He further added that Hindu-Americans have made significant contributions across all fields, including science, education, medicine, law, politics, business, culture, sports, and more; and Hindu heritage, culture, traditions, and values have enriched our great state.

Similar sentiments were expressed by the Governor of Texas Mr. Greg Abott, who applauded Hinduism for its contribution towards the state of Texas and the USA in particular. He further added that Texas’s diverse tapestry of cultures and beliefs is made stronger by the vibrant Hindu community, whose traditions and unique perspectives continue to enrich the state of Texas.

Well, this is an amazing turnaround situation in the USA, where few universities and professors were organizing the Dismantling Global Hindutva event a few days back, now several States and countless organizations have come together to celebrate October as a Hindu Heritage Month.

This is certainly a big slap for those people, who wanted to defame Hinduism for their vested interests. We wholeheartedly welcome this gesture from both Texas and Florida and convey our best wishes to the people of the USA.
