This is Massive- Modi Govt brings UNPRECEDENTED changes in History Syllabus

One of the biggest demands of nationalists was a correct representation of History and other ancient concepts, which were diminished or doctored by the biased historians since the independence. Even during the initial NDA government regime, they tried to make some changes, but opposition raised the ‘Saffron Bogey’ to avert any such changes.

When Modi Government came in 2014, the expectations of people were skyrocketing and they were expecting a huge change in the education syllabus, especially History. The government formed a committee to look into this matter and make appropriate changes, but nothing much observed in the last 5-6 years, and this was a big bone of contention among the Government supporters.

However, the Government and UGC have finally launched the new syllabus for the B.A. History course and this has dashed all the negativity around this sensitive subject. In this article, we will share some amazing changes in the history syllabus and explain the importance of those changes.

Paper I: Idea of Bharat. This paper provides adequate information to set up a foundation of an Indic view of Indian history. It talks about the Art, Culture, Knowledge, Philosophy, and ancient Science of India. These concepts are the very essence of our existence but unfortunately neglected by our successive governments, due to their nefarious agenda.

The first two units contain topics that were long overdue. The term Indus Valley Civilization has been changed to a better representative name, Indus Saraswati civilization, as it shows a true geographic expanse.

Aryan Invasion Theory has been called a myth in the new syllabus, and it will certainly go a long way in educating the future generations. It clearly states that the Indus Saraswati Civilization did not vanish but it was survived, which is a massive step in establishing the cultural continuity of our civilizational nation.

The new syllabus talks about all regions with equal weightage, which was neglected in the previous regime. Students will get to know about Maukharies and Gahadwals which hardly found a mention in our earlier history books.

There is a chapter on ‘Impact of Muslim rule on India‘, which covers the adverse impact of Arab and later Islamic invasions on India. This is an important aspect of our history, and earlier historians ignored these facts to satiate their masters and spread their biased propaganda.

The new syllabus also covers the resistance of several Hindu kings against the Mughals and other invasive forces. It explains a lot about the efforts of Maratha, Marwar, Mewar, Maharana Pratap, Jats, Bundelas, Sikhs, along with the concept of Hindu Padsahi, which were almost negligible in the earlier history syllabus.

It also contains a very balanced paper on Medieval Indian history, which used to be consumed by Mughals in the previous syllabus. Finally, the kingdom of Vijayanagar has a full section, which is a welcome step. It also gave adequate presentations to other Hindu Kingdoms like Mewar, Marwar, Assam, Orrisa, Kashmiri Dogra regime. It also covers the rise of Raja Ranjit Singh in Punjab, the kingdom of Mysore, administrative and socio-economic rise of Marathas.

Inclusion of better Historians, and removal of Agenda driven History experts

Our history was written by the left-leaning and highly biased Romil Thapar, Irfan Habeeb, R.S. Sharma, and Ramchandra Guha type of fake historians. However, the new syllabus has been developed with other authentic historians, and Modi Government has included the Indic historians like R C Majumdar and C V Vaidya, which is a very welcome step indeed.

And last but certainly not the least, earlier the Fake Historians like Romila Thapar, Irfan Habeeb, and Ram Guha used to be at the top of the Reference study section of books, now see where Romila Thapar is, exactly at the bottom, which is her rightful place.

Modi Government has also formed a committee, which is working on incorporating many changes in other subjects, and the outcome is expected by 2022. We are positive about the intentions of the government, and we are pretty much sure that it is only the Modi Government, which can make the rightful changes in our course curriculum, that will help our students to acquire the correct knowledge, which will give them the wisdom to differentiate between the reality and the propaganda.

  1. This is an excellent decision by the government. It is actually telling the correct history rather than the Nehruvian History….I feel like going back to school and re-educate myself.

And thanks Manish for summing up the whole story in very few words with exhibits. I always look forward to your articles on such complex subjects .
