At least ten young children at a madrassa in the Junagadh region of Gujarat have been raped by a 25-year-old teacher, who was taken into custody. Police provided this data.

Junagadh district police said in a statement on Monday that apart from the Maulana (teacher), the police have also arrested the 55-year-old trustee of the madrassa for not taking any action against the teacher despite complaints from students.

The statement said the teacher was caught from his hideout in Surat, while the madrasa trustee was caught from a location in Junagadh on Sunday.

The Mangrol police on Sunday booked both of the accused under sections 377 (unnatural intercourse), 323 (assault), 506-2 (criminal intimidation), and sexual offenses against children of the Indian Penal Code, according to a statement based on the complaint of the 17-year-old kid. In accordance with the applicable provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act, a formal complaint has been filed.
