In an unprecedented turn of events, BJP Leaders Kapil Mishra, Tajinder Bagga, and eminent supreme court lawyer Prashant Patel have been arrested from Rajghat, the moment they reached there to lead a protest demanding the release of Republic Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami.
The due shared the update via their Twitter handles. They have since been brought to the Rajendra Nagar police station. Lawyer Prashant Patel informed that more than 50 people have been “arrested by Delhi Police for supporting Arnab Goswami”.
About an hour earlier, Kapil Mishra had tweeted to announce that the two had reached and that the Delhi Police had imposed Section 144 in Rajghat.
Both the leaders have made it clear that at 9 am they would be taking part in the protest to “Free Arnab Goswami”. A poster was shared by them which showed a message of “Sonia Sena” to stop suppressing the media. They invited all the people of Delhi NCR to join the “Satyagraha” to lend their voice against the brutality of the Maharashtra Government and to initiate a movement of freeing Arnab Goswami.
On November 4th, Republic TV Editor-in-Chief has been arrested in abetment of suicide case. He has been failed to get any sort of relief from the Bombay High Court on Saturday, which reserved its order on his interim bail plea. The court has said he can move the sessions court for regular bail in the meantime.
This is in connection with a case of suicide of an architect-interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother in 2018 over alleged non-payment of dues by the accused’s respective firms. Alongside Arnab Goswami, Feroze Shaikh and Nitish Sarda also stand accused. The suicide note was purportedly written by Anvay Naik, where he said that he was forced to take his life as he was not paid dues of Rs 5.40 crore by the three accused. The case was closed by the court, however Maharashtra Government has reopened this case to settle the score with Arnab Goswami.
