While India is stepping up efforts to counter the menace of terrorism, we have witnessed a massive goof-up today. Sohail Kaskar, the nephew of India’s most-wanted underworld don and Terrorist Dawood Ibrahim has fled to Pakistan. It has been observed that the attempts of Mumbai Police to trace Sohail, who was jailed in the US after being convicted on charges of narco-terrorism have failed.

According to the sources, Sohail Kaskar has fled to Pakistan via Dubai, and thus we have lost the chance to bring him back to India.

Recently, the Mumbai Police had intercepted a phone conversation, and they identified the voice of Sohail Kaskar. Mumbai Police immediately consulted with the American agencies, it was confirmed that he had fled to Pakistan via Dubai.

Here several doubts are being raised over the cooperation of Mumbai Police and US investigation agencies over this case.

Who is Sohail Kaskar?

Sohail Kaskar is the son of Dawood Ibrahim’s younger brother Noora, who died in 2009 in Karachi. Sohail fled India in 1989, and he was arrested in Spain in June 2014 for narco-terrorism and providing support to Colombian rebels, and smuggling heroin into the US. A year later, he was extradited to the US and jailed there for a few years.

Kaskar was arrested along with his associate Danish Ali. While the Indian Government was able to get Danish Ali extradited from the USA, Kasar’s extradition was awaited.

Mumbai Police and Indian Intelligence agencies are yet to understand how and under what circumstances Kaskar managed to flee to Pakistan from the USA. As per media reports, the CBI officials had no information on his travel to Pakistan.
