The COVID has once again swept the nation, the 2nd wave has created havoc across the nation, and all the state governments are struck and shocked by the massive infection rate. Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state of India is on verge of a massive COVID wave and situation of few cities are really grim at the moment.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has stepped in and announced multiple measures to contain the COVID spread and ensure the availability of hospitals, oxygen and life saving drugs.

UP CM has directed all the DM/s and CMO’s to ensure that all the hospitals provide adequate beds and other treatments to the COVID patients. Any hospital deviating from these instructions may attract action under the Epidemic act.

Another important step was taken to increase the supply of oxygen, as many hospitals were reporting the acute shortage of oxygen supply, which is impacting the condition of admitted patients.

Yogi Government has ordered the Oxygen developers/re-fillers who supply oxygen cylinders to the corporates to supply 100% of their outputs to hospitals and medical establishments with immediate effect.

The government has also put an upper ceiling on the oxygen price and instructed all the oxygen producers, suppliers, and re-fillers to comply with the price decided by the government, any deviation may attract legal action under appropriate sections.

Oxygen generation plant has been established in many medical colleges and hospitals, such as in Government Medical College Saharanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh. Oxygen plants are also being set up at Banda and Autonomous State Medical Colleges Firozabad, Ayodhya, Basti, and Bahraich. For this purpose, four days ago, the Department of Medical Education, at the rate of 14 lakh 37 thousand rupees per medical college and medical college, has released about one crore 15 lakh rupees immediately.

Uttar Pradesh health officials were on Wednesday sent to Ahmedabad to procure 25,000 Remdesivir injections on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directions. Remdesivir is considered a key antiviral drug in fight against COVID-19, especially among adults with severe complications.

CM has directed the Health department for urgent procurement of 25,000 Remdesivir from Ahmedabad. For this, directors and officials of the department are going to Ahemdabad on a state plane today itself,” a tweet by the Chief Minister’s Office said.

The state government has also extended the night curfew hours in districts seeing a spike in infections. The new night curfew timing will be from 8 pm to 7 am in districts with over 2,000 active Covid-19 cases. These include Lucknow, Noida, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Meerut, and Kanpur.

Schools in Uttar Pradesh will also remain closed till 15 May. The board exams for classes 10 and 12 students have been postponed till 20 May. Yogi government is also conducting more than 2 Lakh RTPCR tests on a daily basis, to detect the potential COVID infection.

Uttar Pradesh reported the second-highest number of new Covid-19 cases in the country at 17,963 on Wednesday. UP also recorded the third-highest number of Covid-19 deaths in the country at 85.

Well, it was bound to happen as we have huge population in Uttar Pradesh, however we are pretty much hopeful that this phase will be over soon, as state government is taking correct decisions, and we will see the outcomes very soon.
