Who is Sachin Vaze? Why Maharashtra Government is deliberately shielding their ‘Black Sheep’

Maharashtra has been on a roller coaster ride since the Shiv Sena-led Maha-Vikas Agadhi Government has assumed power. The recent tensions arose since the suspicious death of auto parts dealer Mansukh Hiren.

It is said that a Mansukh was the owner of a Scorpio, which was found near Mukesh Ambani’s residence on February 25, with 20 gelatin sticks inside. Maharashtra Police said the vehicle was stolen from Airoli-Mulund Bridge on February 18.

The mystery has been deepened after Hiren’s body was found in a creek last Friday in Thane district neighboring Mumbai.

Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday made some shocking revelations and demanded the arrest of police officer Sachin Vaze in connection with the mysterious death of auto parts dealer Mansukh Hiren. Fadnavis’s revelation created a ruckus in the Maharashtra Assembly.

Fadanvis demanded that Sachin Vaze should be arrested under the Indian Penal Code Section 201. Fadnavis further added that said Mansukh Hiren’s wife has claimed in her statement to police that her husband knew Sachin Vaze and the Scorpio was with the police officer from November 2020 to February 5, 2021.

She had also stated that her husband was with Vaze on February 27, 28, and March 2. The complaint letter (of Hiran) addressed to the chief minister, DyCM, and police commissioners of Mumbai and Thane which surfaced in public after his death was written on the instructions of Vaze.

Fadanvis shared the vital information, he said that Hiren’s wife also claimed that her husband told her that Vaze had asked him to get himself arrested and he would ensure his bail in a few days. On April 4, Mansukh told his brother Vinod to speak to a lawyer for anticipatory bail as he might be arrested. However, their lawyer rejected this idea, as Mansukh was not an accused, hence applying for anticipatory bail was not a good idea then.

Fadanvis further claimed that Hiren’s last location was found with Dhananjay Vithal Gawde, against whom an FIR was lodged for seeking a ransom of Rs 40 lakh in 2017. The other person who was mentioned in the FIR is Sachin Vaze. Mansukh’s body was later found 40 km away. He may have been murdered in the car and the body may have been thrown into the creek. Since it was a low tide, the body was found.

Fadanvis made another startling expose, he said that Hiren’s wife also claimed in her statement that her husband told her that Sachin Vaze had asked him to get himself arrested and he would ensure his bail in a few days.

Well, here the biggest question is, Who is Sachin Vaze and what is his connection with this entire conspiracy? Also, why a police officer is so important that entire Maharashtra Government is trying every tactic to defend him at any cost?

Who is Sachin Vaze – ‘The black sheep of Maharashtra Government’ ?

Sachin Vaze is a 49-year-old Police officer, who joined the Maharashtra Police Service in 1990 as a sub-inspector. He became one of the most famous “encounter specialists” of Mumbai police. He was instrumental in killing over 60 dreaded gangsters, most of them from Dawood Ibrahim’s and Chhota Rajan’s gangs.

Vaze was suspended in 2004, as murder charges were slapped on him and 14 other Police staff. He was allegedly involved in the custodial death of Khwaja Yunus, a suspect in the December 2, 2002, Ghatkopar bomb blast case. In 2008, a 1,000-page chargesheet was filed which named Vaze and others.

However, in 2008, his life was changed when he joined the Shiv Sena in presence of late party chief Balasaheb Thackeray. Although he was not very active in politics, sometimes he did appear on news channels as the party spokesperson. Since then his relations became so close with the Thackeray family.

Once Uddhav Thackeray became Chief Minister of Maharashtra, his government revoked Vaze’s suspension and reinstated him into Mumbai Police.

Contrary to his suspicious and highly unpopular image, Maharashtra police have assigned him many high-profile cases including the Anvay Naik suicide case, Media TRP rigging scam, sports car scam involving Dilip Chhabria, and the Bollywood-TV-entertainment industry’s casting couch racket. It was Sachin Vaze, who manhandled and arrested Republic News Channel founder Arnab Goswami from his residence.

Even this case of Giletin laden Scorpio car was also assigned to Sachin Vaze. However, once people raised suspicion on his role, he was replaced by ACP Nitin Alakhnure. The case has now been taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) while the ATS registered a murder case in connection with Hiren’s death.

Well, it is quit surprising that how Maharashtra Government is not only assigning all high-profile cases to Sachin Vaze, but also shielding him as if he is an important asset for them. BJP has made some shocking revelations and if those allegations are true, then Thackeray government has to give many explanations.

This case should be investigated thoroughly and we are pretty much sure that it will expose many uncomfortable facts about the Thackeray family and their abuse of several constitutional and public administration services.
