NEWS OR PROPAGANDA ? YOU DECIDE

ToI, in a shocking piece of propaganda published on 28 March 2022, is openly handing out a stern warning to leaders of farmer protests : Re Unite or Perish! In opening para, it reminds these leaders of their original vow to “make the Central Govt bend backwards”.

This is a communication that aims at influencing the perceptions of a target audience in favour of a “struggle agenda” that may derail Indian economy in the garb of farmer welfare.

Peddled as a page 3 “news”, it is silent on how Farmer Protests 2021 brought an unending misery to the common citizen due to blockade of NH for a year, how the logistic supply chains were disrupted, and how an already Covid – shattered Indian economy was given another body blow, restricting commercial vehicles, bringing industrialists on their knees, while the Courts turned a blind eye.

CAN ANY NEWSPAPER BE ALLOWED TO PEDDLE SUCH A SUBJECTIVE AND REGRESSIVE PROPAGANDA AS A PAGE 3 NEWS ITEM ?
