If you don’t feel the pain of brutal killing of Ajay Pandita Bharti—lone Hindu Sarpanch in Kashmir valley, in your own backyard—but hold placard for George Floyd across seven seas in US, aren’t you part of an agenda knowingly or unknowingly? Selective outrage, which continues unabashedly by propagandist journalists and activists, is appalling and alarming in India. It reminds one such case of Akhlaq, a suspected calf thief, who had been allegedly killed in 2015. Thereafter, every so called liberal journalist and politician used every national and international platform to tell the world how India had become intolerant. Politician like Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti, Journalists like Barkha, Rajdeep and Saba poured out their outrage about Akhlaq on twitter, having flooded tweets.
40 years old, Ajay Pandita Bharti, who was lone Hindu Sarpanch of Larkipora area in Anantnag district, was brutally shot dead on 8 June in his native village. The brutal murder of Ajay Pandita has not only traumatised the old wounds of Kashmiri Hindus, but it has revived the image of the horrific and terrible atrocities inflicted upon them in 1990. He was one of the few brave souls to return to his village six years after the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Valley in early 90s. Ajay Pandita Bharti was murdered for two reasons—being part of the democratic process and a member of the minority community. Hindus are in minority in Kashmir.
Forget about justice after 30 years, Kashmiri Hindus continue to be targeted and persecuted for being Hindus. This is the price Kashmiri Hindus are paying for being minority in India. The entire region does not have a SINGLE Hindu MLA or MP. Ajay Pandita Bharti was the only Hindu Sarpanch.
Suddenly, silence fell over self proclaimed intellectuals or propagandists, who were forcefully vocal about minority rights, ethics of secularism and democracy. No protests, no coverage, no anger, no outrage and no outburst after cold blooded murder of Ajay Pandita Bharti. In fact so called liberal eco system preferred to be tight lipped when two fragile saints were mob lynched during lockdown in Palghar, Maharashtra on 4 May.
Isn’t silence on part of so called liberal politician and journalists discreetly supporting terrorism in valley? Merciless killing of lone Hindu Sarpanch doesn’t fit the narrative they want people to believe? Why do they always project minority and second largest population to feel as victims, even when they are persecutors? Why doesn’t their humanity emerge when a Hindu is butchered for being Hindu?
