Corona Pandemic is taking a toll on India like never before. The total number of COVID-19 cases in India surged past 10 lakh. On Thursday, as many as 32,696 fresh cases were registered within a span of 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had announced. More than 25,000 people have already lost their lives to the novel corona virus in the country.
Amid such a critical situation Reliance Foundation has waged a war against COVID-19, it is partnering with the government and local bodies for conducting mega-scale Covid-19 testing across the country and will volunteer for nationwide distribution of its vaccine when it is found, declared Reliance Foundation’s Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani.
“The war against coronavirus is far from over. Reliance Foundation is gearing up to partner with the government and local municipalities for rapid mega-scale Covid testing across India with the help of Jio’s digital infrastructure,” she said while addressing Reliance Industries’ 43rd annual general meeting (AGM) virtually.
“I can assure you that as soon as a corona vaccine becomes available, we will volunteer by using the same digital distribution and supply chain to ensure that the vaccine should reach everywhere in our country,” Ambani added.
Nita Ambani further added that Reliance and BMC (Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation) has established India’s first Covid Exclusive 100-bed Hospital in Mumbai within a span of only two weeks. The facility now has 200 beds and assisting Maharashtra Government by providing support to the Covid Patients.
Reliance foundation is an Indian initiative which was founded in by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. It is affiliated with India’s largest conglomerate Reliance Industries Limited and is one of the largest profit making foundation.
Reliance Foundation works towards enriching the lives of people belonging to the marginalized communities of India. It enhances livelihood opportunities and provides relevant information that helps reduce risk for rural communities. It also helps in enhancement of rural livelihoods in agriculture, marine fisheries and other farm and non-farm based activities.
Reliance Foundation’s efforts in fight against corona virus
Reliance Foundation also put out a short music video on its Twitter account to celebrate and recognize those serving on the front lines of the country’s fight against the corona virus.
This 50-second clip showcased people from all walks of life and ended with Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani urging a spirit of unity and expressing her belief that Indians would come together to defeat the corona virus.
Reliance Life Science team has set up the largest corona virus test laboratory in India, where about 3500 tests are performed on daily basis.
Reliance has already set up a dedicated 100 bedded COVID-19 centre at Seven Hills Hospital, Mumbai for patients who test positive for COVID-19. This hospital includes a negative pressure room that helps in preventing cross-contamination and helps control infection. Every bed has been equipped with the necessary infrastructure and other biomedical equipment such as ventilators, dialysis machines, pacemakers, and several other patient monitoring device.
Reliance Foundation is also famous for its ‘Mission Anna Seva’ ,which supports the marginalized communities and front line workers by providing them cooked hygienic meals and dry ration kits across the country. The initiative has provided over 4 crore free meals to those in need, so far.
