RCC DIVA Foundation Chairperson RACHANA VIJAY CHALLANI unveils 'Project PRAYAS', a flagship project of foundation to empower adolescent girls by providing Tailoring & Cosmetology skills at The Madras Seva Sadan in Chennai.

In India unemployment & underemployment is very high especially amongst women & adolescent girls. People do not think necessary providing opportunities to the women & adolescent girls for modern education & vocational skills due to their poverty, tradition & current trend in the society like just boys. They think also that women & girls are only for cooking food, home chores & giving baby child, because of this, women & adolescent girls are forced to live dependent, deprived, bias, voiceless, marginalized life and relegated to the status of subjugated class.

With the aim of addressing the difficulties faced by women and girls,Chennai based NGO under the leadership of Rachana Vijay Challani, Chairperson RCC DIVA Foundation (2022-23) & Pinky Akash President RCC DIVA (2022-23), embarked on the goal to enhance vocational skills and knowledge among women and adolescent girls, who will come from economically backward areas and weaker sections of the societies. Additional, it will improve their entrepreneurship & employment skills and empower them taking decision about themselves and make them self reliant. The aim is providing women and girls necessary life skills, making them self-reliant, restore their dignity and empower them through education, vocational skills and opportunities for entrepreneurship & job, for improving quality of life, role & participation contributing for family system & country as well.

The NGO started the vocational training for Tailoring and Cosmetology with the aim to train 55 women and adolescent girls at The Madras Seva Sadan under the presence of incharge Smt.Uma Maheshwari by providing them with tailoring materials, sewing kits and cosmetic kits. The project will provide all the opportunities at their home or nearby home keeping in smooth functioning of family institution. The project aims to address the low female labour force participation rates (LFPRs) prevalent in India and help in promoting economic growth where they become equal partners in the all-round development of the country.”
