While Hindus in the UK are under attack, Hindus in the USA are being labeled as hateful. New Jersey’s Teaneck democratic unit has issued a resolution labeling some Hindu groups as hate groups. they are calling for the FBI and CIA to investigate these Hindu organizations. In Uk Hindu businesses and properties are being destroyed and their homes are under siege. In the US Hindu organizations, including humanitarian and human rights groups, are accused of inciting hatred. These countries are often found to be flag bearers of minority rights and lecture India about rights & persecution. Yet they have the audacity to release a so-called report on Religious intolerance in the US. These kinds of reports reveal their hypocrisy towards other countries.

This resolution wrongly condemns almost every major Hindu American organization in the United States as an organization that promotes hate and terrorism, and it was passed without even providing any of the mentioned Hindu American organizations the opportunity to be heard. As a minority community in the United States that has recently experienced many instances of hate crimes, including against many of our temples in the New Jersey area, we take great offense to this hate-filled resolution. We call for the TDMC to rescind this offensive resolution immediately.

The resolution also claims that “one million emails, death threats, and rape threats were sent by Hindu extremists to US Academic scholars” like Hinduphobic Rutgers professor Audrey Truschke and their families when 50 universities supported the anti-Hindu online conference ‘Dismantling Hindutva’. They also claimed that Drew University received 30,000 emails in a few minutes causing the server to crash.

Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee claims that the Hindu organizations can be declared terror groups under US Code Title 22 Chapter 38, section 2656f(d), which defines terrorism as, “premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience”.

The TDMC urged New Jersey Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker, Governor Phil Murphy, and Congressman Josh Gottheimer to ask the FBI and CIA to probe these groups. They also urged the representatives to revise the Visa waiver program Improvement and Terrorist stave Prevention Act of 2015 “to address foreign violent extremists”.

They further asked them to pass the US House Resolution 1196, “condemning human rights violations and violations of international religious freedom in India”. This resolution urges the US Department of State to designate India as a Country of Particular Concern.

Today, Indian immigrants account for approximately 6 percent of the U.S. foreign-born population. It is a minority in that region that has only been contributing to the economic progress of the country. From Satya Nadella, Microsoft to Sundar Pichai, Alphabet,  Indian blood has gone on to lead some of the most successful businesses and companies

American Hindu Community stood together against the New Jersey Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee’s hateful resolution.  Almost fifty-five Hindu American organizations representing more than 155,000 residents of Bergen County, NJ, and surrounding areas signed a coalition letter condemning a hostile resolution recently passed by the Teaneck Democratic Municipal Committee (TDMC).  They condemned and demanded the Rescission of Hateful Resolution by Teaneck Democrats.

Over 5,000 volunteers from these organizations collectively served almost one million individuals of all races, ethnicities, religions, and nationalities in big cities and small towns across the United States through weekly food and medical drives distributing food, grocery, hot meals, hygiene kits, and many other essential supplies.

At the start of the COVID pandemic, these organizations distributed almost one million N95, KN95, and surgical masks to essential workers in hospitals, schools, and offices in cities across the country. Volunteers from these organizations made more than 100,000 masks by hand for distribution to those who were not able to acquire them elsewhere.

This isn’t the first time that the leftist in the west has tried to pose Hindus as terrorists and extremists. The global issues involve the long-time allegations that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a Hindu fundamentalist. In the Edison Day Parade, a poster displayed the symbol of the destruction of Muslim Property (bulldozer) adorned with PM Modi’s photo on it. Every now and then the New York Times is observed to publish news to incite violence and hatred against the Hindus around the world.

Imagine if Teaneck democratic unit had called for the FBI to surveil registered non-profits of any other faiths? The outrage would be deafening.

In a time where there is an increased awareness of the need for diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect, it is ever more important to call out false narratives, bigotry, and hatred.  It is time for a country that claims to be developed and modern to actually adopt tolerance and respect for other religions and cultures.
