Draupadi Murmu took the oath of office and secrecy from Chief Justice NV Raman. She became the country’s 15th President and also the second female president.
The searing-in ceremony in the Hall of Parliament was attended by all of major leaders of the ruling and opposition parties, as well as Union minister and MPs.
The president in the ceremony delivered her inaugural speech in Hindi after taking the oath of office. And at the very beginning addressed as the constitutional head for speeding up efforts to meet the expectations that the freedom fighters had for the citizens of Independent India.
“My election is proof of fact that in India, the poor can dream and also fulfil those dreams,”

The president quoted abovementioned, and congratulated the entire Parliament and greeted every Member’s warmth and presence.
The country has elected me as the President at the crucial time when we are celebrating ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, She added further….
It is an absolute privilege to have this responsibility at such a monumental time when India is engaging with full potential in realising its vision for the next 25 years.
We have to work at a fast pace in this Amritkal to fulfil the expectations of our freedom fighters from the citizens of Independent India.
Throughout these 25 years, the pathway to attain the goals of Amritkal will proceed on two tracks of “Sabka Prayas aur Sabka Kartavya”.
We will be observing Kaargil Diwas tomorrow on July 26th. This day is a symbol of bravery and valour of the Indian Armed Forces.
Further, she added, that she belongs to a tribal society and got the opportunity to rise from serving as a ward councillor to becoming the President of India. This is the greatness of India, the mother of democracy.
It is a tribute to the power of our democracy that a daughter born in poor house in a remote tribal area can reach the highest constitutional positions India.

Draupadi Murmu also praised the Presidents from Rajendra Prasad to Shri Ram Nath Kovind that the stalwarts have adorned this post.
She added, “Along with this post, the country has also entrusted me with responsibility of representing this great tradition.” In the light of constitution, I will discharge my duties with utmost sincerity.
In our country full of diversities, we are engaged in the making of ‘Ek Bharat- Shreshtha Bharat’ by adopting many languages, religion, sects, food habits, life style, and customs.
With the spirit of welfare of the world, I will always be active to work with whole devotion and dedication to live up to the trust the citizens have in me.
