“Haringhata Meat”

Haringhata Meat is an initiative of West Bengal government. If you want to sell meat you can also take franchise of the same . The government will deliver fresh meat to your shop from where you can retail the meat to your customers .

All the meat available in this chain are “Halal” an Arabic/Islamic way of slowly slaughtering an animal .

In native Bengali culture meat is consumed after slaughtering the animal in a Jhatka fashion i.e. killing the animal in one stroke of the sword and only after offering it to Maa Kali (as per the popular custom) . If you go to any Hindu meat shop (mutton/chicken) you will see these practices are being followed.

It is the choice of one that from where he wants to buy the meat and how he wants to cook or eat it.

Now my point of concern is that when Bengali Hindus and Muslims in the state has different set of method to slaughter an animal then why the government led by Mamata Banerjee run by the money and vote of Bengali Hindus and others chooses to run a meat chain favouring the tradition of only one religious community? Why the Mamata government’s meat shops can not also have Jhatka variety of meat ? Does the traditions and emotions of the deciples of Maa Kali are of no concern to her ? Or is it that keeping Jhatka variety in the same shop will hurt her particular vote bank which she don’t want to disturb.

When the government of Mamata was voted and being paid tax by both Bengali Hindus and Muslims then why Mamata government’s meat chain only appease the Islamic method and not the method of Bengali Hindus ?

NB – I don’t support killing and eating any animal to satisfy the urge of taste buds.
