Kolkata , the glorious city which was once known as the City Of Palaces was a land of opportunities. A manufacturing hub, it was known as the Scheffield of India.

Alas, the communist government , in its 40 years of rule destroyed all scope of development. In the garb of nationalism all they gave this city was lockdowns unionism and exodus of industries. They city became the classic example of brain drain. Most of the educated and skilled brains laft the city for greener pastures.
However the love of motherland is something that pulls its children to its roots. A group of Probashi Bangalis working in various professional
fields, living in India and Abroad are coming together to bring the glory back to this land.

The group has launched an initiative called Kolkata Bhovisyot…where they are launching a programme called ‘ Amra Bharat Firte Chai’…which literally translates to ” We want to return to India” ! Can an appeal get more earnest and endearing??
This itself is a sign of such honesty of purpose.

Kolkatar Bhovisyot are working on a vision to bring back the glory of Kolkata by helping the city develop to its utmost potential and beyond. We want a Kolkata of the future where no youngster has to leave their old parents behind and go out to study or work. They also want a city which leads among all metros, attracting talent from all over.

They will also be unveiling their audio-visual ‘Amra Bari Firte Chai’. The event will be graced by Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President ICCR and Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education. The Special Guest for the evening is Lieutenant General Subrata Saha (Retd.), Member, National Security Advisory Board.
There will also be a special performance by eminent singer Shri Piloo Bhattacharya.
