What is odd in the virus evolution ?
Omicron did not evolve from Delta
Delta didn’t emerge from Alpha,Beta or Gamma
Each of these are originating from the original strain at different points of time but each of these have no relation to one another.
Why does it matter?
Omicron will not lead necessarily to another similar variant but an altogether new variant might emerge that might be totally different than Omicron and it could be more infectious.
Those who keep propagating ” Omicron is the last variant to emerge and after this it will be an endemic virus” are playing to the gallery but the reality is not true!!.
