In 2014, An Intelligence Bureau report was submitted, which presented some startling facts, that “foreign-funded” NGOs such as Greenpeace, Amnesty, Cordaid, and ActionAid of “serving as tools for foreign policy interests of western governments, and they are trying their best to halt the Government’s development projects by any means.

Initially, people didn’t believe it, some said that it’s Government’s propaganda to demean the NGO’s and halt their operations by one way or other. However, we have received lot of facts and evidences in last 5-6 years, which has cemented this fact, that few foreign funded NGO’s, specially Christian NGO’s are acting in anti Indian manner.

The recent case is of Bombay Salesian Society Don Bosco, which got Rs 10.19 Cr in a year ( Rs 176 Cr in 10 yrs!). This NGO founded n funded ‘Vanashakti’ to oppose the Mumbai Metro project and Aarey Car shed, it went ahead and deployed innocent school kids against Mumbai Metro.

There is another NGO Greenline involved, which is a subsidiary of the Salesians of Don Bosco, its office was in the premises of Don Bosco School, Matunga, which was opposing Mumbai Metro. This NGO is funded by Salesians.

Another Christian-funded St. Stanislaus School, Bandra had asked parents to sign a letter to register their protest against Mumbai Metro. This school along with a Church forced innocent children to organize protest against the Aarey car shed.

The same NGOs opposed Konkan Railways and several other railway projects in the past, however, they failed to get any sort of traction from the legal entities in India, and ultimately weaned off.

Former Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh once said that, some people are apprehensive that NGO Caritas India is misusing the opportunity for “conversion”. The Caritas is again associated with Salesians! It’s perfect Saboteur Empire experts in hit jobs, which is impacting India’s premier development projects in several states.

Even ex-PM Manmohan criticized NGOs for protests in Kudankulam. He has criticised NGOs (Which were Catholic Church-run NGOs) that receive support from abroad for stalling the use of genetic engineering in agriculture/ leading protests against the Kudankulam nuclear plant in Tamil Nadu.

What action Modi government has taken?

Modi government has recently taken action against these Christians and Church funded NGO, Govt released a notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs suspending the licenses of six non-governmental Christian organizations under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA).

These organizations are the Ecreosoculis North Western Gossner Evangelical in Jharkhand; the Evangelical Churches Association (ECA) in Manipur; the Northern Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jharkhand; the New Life Fellowship Association (NLFA) in Mumbai; the Don Bosco Tribal Development Society; and the Rajnandgaon Leprosy Hospital and Clinics.
