In the Russian territory of Dagestan, on October 29 (local time), a Muslim mob with weapons broke into the main airport with the intention of killing Jews. The event happened shortly after a plane from Tel Aviv, Israel, touched down at the airport in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, which has a majority of Muslims. Approximately 83% of the 3.2 million people living in the area are Muslims. On social media, videos of the incident became widely shared.
Videos of this incident are also going viral on social media. Apart from the crowd doing vandalism, miscreants are seen standing on the wings of the airplane in the viral video. It is being claimed that this mob was searching for Jews at the airport to kill them. Palestine flags were also visible in their hands. The security personnel present at the airport were unsuccessful in stopping them.
The personnel at the airport momentarily halted the planes’ operations amid this confusion. A group of Russian security personnel arrived at the airport after learning of the event and took control of the situation. Two hours later, flight operations were restored. Two of the more than 20 persons who have been reported injured in this incident are in critical condition. Both citizens and Russian police personnel are among the injured.
The viral footage claimed that small children were also among the assailants. They also arrived with the goal of executing the Jewish population. It is said that every Israeli on board is safe. Following this event, Russia has been encouraged by Israel’s Foreign Ministry to take citizen safety seriously and to expect tough measures against the perpetrators.
The deadliest terrorist attack on southern Israel was carried out by Hamas on October 7 (local time), when at least 1,300 Israelis and foreigners—including women, children, and the elderly—were killed. The militants from Hamas kidnapped more than 200 people. The terrorists slaughtered Israeli soldiers, mangled the bodies of the aged, shot dead in their homes, raped women, killed children in front of their parents, and shot the elderly point blank.
