Maharashtra is sliding the ranks as far as depleting law and order is concerned. Under Uddhav Thackeray’s incapable leadership, Maharashtra’s law and order situation has been worsening with each passing day.
In a recent shocking case, a 26-year-old Navy sailor who had been abducted in Chennai on January 30 was set on fire by the kidnappers in jungles of Maharashtra’s Palghar district. The Navy officer succumed to his burn injuries while he was rushed to a hospital.
The victim, whose name was Suraj Kumar Dubey, died while he was being shifted to hospital in Mumbai. He hailed from Ranchi, was posted at INS Agrani near Coimbatore. While he was returning from vacation on January 30, three men abducted him at gun point outside Chennai Airport around 9 pm and demanded ransom of Rs 10 lakh.
He was kept captive in Chennai for three days and later shifted to area near Vevji in Talasari area of Palghar district of Maharashtra, close to Mumbai and 1,400 km away from the Tamil Nadu capital. On Friday morning, the abductors tied his hands and legs and set him on fire in jungles near Gholvad, and fled leaving him for dead.
Dubey somehow managed to run away and with the help of some locals, reached Dahanu Primary Health Centre. As he had more than 90 percent burn injuries, he was rushed to the naval hospital in Mumbai but he died on the way. Before dying, he narrated the entire ordeal to the police.
This is an extremely shocking incident and Palghar is once again in the limelight after the infamous murder of 2 Hindu saints by local goons. It is also shocking that how a Navy officer was abducted and no alarm was raised by any authority. He must be brought to Palghar via road, but no one traced his whereabouts.
With such kind of incidents, people are loosing their faith in Maharashtra Police and Government. People have seen the wishy washy treatment given to Hindu saints murder, where the entire incident was there on camera, but still all the criminals are out on bail. We really don’t know if Navy officer will get justice under this incapable Thackeray government.
