2300 km undersea fibre cable network : Modi govts Big gift to Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the eve of Independence day

PM Modi has launched fibre cable for Andaman and Nicobar, on Monday, that will strengthen the Internet connectivity in the region.

This fibre cable will be gifted to the people of Andaman and Nicobar on 15th August. This fibre cable has been laid under the sea from Chennai to port Blair, about 2300 km, the which will provide internet at a much faster rate. PM Modi said, It was needed for years but the work was not done as doing survey at the sea laying the cables and maintaining the quality was not easy. But even during this pandemic situation the work was in full progress and has been completed in about 1.5 years. The island Development committee was formed by the government to complete the project rapidly.

With this project people of Andaman will get ease of living as well as the benefits of Digital India. Local economy will get a boost. 95% of the business comes from the tourism industry in Andaman and every person in the industry needs smooth functioning of their work. Better connectivity will encourage tourism and also create employment.

In the context of self reliant India, PM Modi added that the port development waterway is strengthened and also efforts are being made to connect rivers to the port and remove all legal hurdles. Apart from making Andaman digital, the road – air route will be also strengthened. Task for repairing big ship will be also soon undertaken.
