In addition to set up 24X7 Oxygen Management System in 24 hours, the state has announced free hospitalization to COVID patients, free Remdivisir vials, free COVID Kits & host of other measures.
The Uttar Pradesh administration have initiated the slew of measures to control the rise of surging pandemic in the state through extensive testing, tracking and tracking of continuous supply of oxygen along with the availability of ICU beds. With the population of around 231.5 million, the state stands around fifth in with total infections of 1.4 million and active cases of 262,000 as on 5th May 2021. The state recorded lowest level of infections on 27th February 2021 with just 77 cases and two months later on 24th April 2021 the state recorded 37944 cases.
Understanding the gravity of the situation going out of control, the Yogi Adityanath leg government ordered that hospitals will have to announce the number of vacant beds twice a day. Free hospitalization will be provided to residents of the state at government hospitals. The shortage of beds in government hospital will be met by admitting the patients at private hospital for which the payment will be done by the state administration. In other measures the state government fixed rates for COVID testing at Rs.700/- & treatment of patients being admitted at private hospitals. For patients who require home isolation, necessary medicine and supplements has been provided free of cost. Free cremation services have been felicitated for patients dying due to Chinese Wuhan Virus.
Moreover the Chinese Wuhan virus patients in Uttar Pradesh will be provided Remdivisir free of cost across the state in both government & private hospitals. The state government will procure vials for government run hospitals. And the patients at private hospital can get the injections from Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Earlier last month in view of shortage of Remdivisir in the state, the chief minister directed health officials to procure the injections from Ahemdabad based pharma company and the same was picked up and delivered to Lucknow in the same day.
To ensure the availability of life saving Oxygen gas, the Uttar Pradesh administration has decided to change the policy to include Oxygen Manufacturing Plants (for medical purposes) based on Cryogenic, Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) and/or Water ELectrolysis technologies to set up and start manufacturing oxygen gas in the state.The quick response to oxygen crisis is being tackled with launching of “Oxygen Monitoring System” for 24×7 live monitoring of the oxygen supply across the state to private and government hospitals with ensure its supply in the quickest possible time by tracking the real-time location of the tankers. The system was designed and implemented in less than 24 hours.
Aid is pouring in from abroad and as on 5th May 2021 around 1500 Oxygen Concetrators and five Cryogenic Tankers were received from abroad. Around 47 districts of Uttar Pradesh will get medical oxygen plants under the PM CARES Fund to meet the current demand of oxygen gas and for possible future requirements.
Like the early and systematic tracking of high-risk contacts happened in the first stage, the state administration has undertaken mega testing drive in all villages from first week of May. The migrants from other states will be quarantined at seperate centres for 14 days.
Understanding the importance of COVID-19 vaccination, the chief minister has ordered around 10 Million vaccination doses from Serum Institute of India & Bharat Biotech Limited. As on date around 10 Million people have been administered the first dose and around 250,000 people have been provided with second shot free of cost in around 8000 centres setup across the state.
Tough times calls for decisive action and the state government also warned miscreants & anti national elements spreading propaganda & rumours on social media that they would be charged under National Security Act resulting in seizure of property of individuals. The Chief Minister Mahant Yogi Adityanath also asked state police to take actions against people involved in hoarding and blackmarketing medicine and oxygen cylinders. The Lucknow police have recovered 225 cylinders and arrested 10 persons involved in black marketing of oxygen cylinders and the crime branch of Kanpur busted oxygen black marketing racket and busted 51 cylinders.
