An alleged comedian and die hard anti-Hindu Tanmay Bhat of infamous ‘All India Bakchod’ has again found himself at the ire-end of netizens after his old tweets surfaced. The latest to face the brunt and take action is Kotak Bank who pulled down their 811 campaign starring creators Tanmay Bhat and Samay Raina.

Kotak bank had recently released an advertisement campaign featuring Tanmay Bhat and Samay Raine promoting the bank’s new 811 campaign.

However, a Twitter user Shefali Vaidya, recently took screenshots of Bhat’s decade old tweet and asked Uday Kotak if they endorse Tanmay’s views.

“Dear @udaykotak do you agree with Hindu hater Tanmay Bhatt’s description of Shri Ganesh Murti? Do your customers agree? @KotakBankLtd” she wrote

“I guess this is the lowest the brand @KotakBankLtd has stooped to. If their Brand Ambassador has FoE, they too have a choice to survive. If they want to attract a particular section of the society (that follows @thetanmay ) as their customers, so be it. Let’s wish them good.” an aggrieved netizen replied to Shefali’s post.

Twitter user Monica Verma said, “Hi @KotakBankLtd @udaykotak I am a customer of your bank but the fact that you have hired a Hinduphobic, woman and child abuser Tanmay Bhat for a campaign is making me consider closing my account. Discontinue the association with him and apologise?”

On February 12, Kotak Mahindra Bank’s digital banking handle Kotak811 withdrew the campaign featuring controversial former AIB comedian Tanmay Bhat after it received a backlash on social media.

In a tweet, Kotak811 said, “We at Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. do not support or endorse the views of actors made in their personal capacity that harm or offend any individual or group. We have withdrawn the campaign.” The ad campaign also featured comedian Samay Raina.

Who is Tanmay Bhat?

Bhat, who was a founding member of the controversial comedian group All India Bakchod (AIB), has been in the limelight for the wrong reasons on several occasions. He has a history of making derogatory and problematic tweets. He not only insulted legendary singer Late Lata Mangeshkar at one point but also made casual jokes about child sexual exploitation.

His group AIB was infamous for making controversial jokes, and it was closed down after one of its members was accused of sexual harassment. Notably, the other members, including Bhat, were aware of the accusations before they were made public, but they decided not to act strictly upon them.

Tanmay Bhat is a habitual and repeated offender, who keeps on mocking Hindutva and Hindus in the name of comedy. The tweet featured screenshots of four tweets of Tanmay Bhat. In the posts, Tamany Bhat says, “Every year on the shores of Africa, elephants pop out of the jungle look at Ganapati idols and go ‘Is Madam Tussauds sending us this shit’”.

Another tweet by Bhat read, “For someone who is supposed to remove obstacles, Ganesh sure does a shit job with traffic”.

Another tweet read, “ Those offended when I referred to the idols as ‘the shit!’ , I’m sorry. Feces are better for the environment and there’s really no comparison”.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Bhat has been involved in a controversy. During the #MeToo movement, the comedian came under attack for his inaction in the complaints against writer-comedian Utsav Chakraborty, a YouTuber and ex-AIB member who was called out on social media.

Amid the controversy around Tanmay, it appears people have completely forgotten about the controversial tweet Samay made about abortion, which is still live on the social media platform.

Only last year, in October, AU bank took down its campaign starring actors Aamir Khan and Kiara Advani after netizens complained it hurt their religious religious sentiments. We are shocked to see how these banks are not completing due diligence before employing such controversial figures for their marketing and advertisement campaigns.

People, specially Hindus have started raising their voice and this is the reason why many such advertisements and deals have been cancelled in the past. However, the so called secular and liberal cabal is terming it as right wing aggression against businesses and popular personalities. But, they never raise their voice against these people who always look for any possible opportunity to sham Hindus and Hinduism.
