A wife swapping racket has been busted in Kottayam in Kerala. Seven persons who were running this racket were taken into police custody on Sunday. The case came to light after a police complaint was lodged by the wife of a member. Police said 7 persons have been arrested and 25 people are being monitored and more people will be arrested in the next few days.
As per the police sources, a woman has lodged a complaint with the Karukchal police station that her husband forced her to have a sexual relationship with other men. The woman said she was forced to have unnatural sex with other men.
Upon further investigation, the police were able to get various clues about a larger network, that was indulged in the wife-swapping and unnatural relationships after arresting the accused husband. Police confirmed that there were about 1000 couples involved in the racket.
The gang operated through Social Media
The arrested persons are from Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Alapuzha districts. Karacrush police said the racket operated through several social media platforms like Facebook and Telegram.
Officials said several high-profile people were among the members of the racket. Couples involved in the racket exchanged their wives whenever they met, and sometimes a woman was shared by multiple men at the same time. Many single boys also paid to share partners with other men.
An official said that the same people were selected through social media and wives were exchanged in private ‘couple swapping’ groups. Many people were associated with the racket on Facebook. The racket used fake social media accounts, so it will take time to catch all those involved.
Police said a thorough investigation is underway into the matter. All the information about the people involved in the case is being ascertained whether the people of this group are in a relationship with any other group also.
Although we are awaiting more information about this matter, it is important to investigate if this racket was targeting women of a specific religion, or if it somehow related to Love Jihad? Well, the time will tell, as more explosive facts are being unearthed by the police in this matter.
