Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday resigned as the Delhi Chief Minister, making way for Atishi to take charge of the top post.
Atishi was elected as the leader of AAP legislative party meeting, which was chaired by Kejriwal at his Delhi residence. Atishi is the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi after Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj.
“Today Arvind Kejriwal has submitted his resignation. This is an emotional moment for the party and the people of Delhi. At the same time, the people of Delhi are resolving to make Arvind Kejriwal the chief minister again…Till the elections are not held, I will be looking after Delhi,” she said.
Kejriwal reached the LG Secretariat along with his Cabinet colleagues to resign on Tuesday afternoon, days after announcing his decision to quit from the post. Later, Atishi staked her claim to form a new government.
Upon being named Delhi’s new Chief Minister, Atishi today termed Kejriwal as her “guru” and thanked him for “having faith” in her.
“It can only happen in the Aam Aadmi Party, and under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal, that I was made an MLA and then a minister and now the Chief Minister. I am happy that I have become the Chief Minister, but sad that my elder brother, Arvind Kejriwal, will be resigning from his post. There is just one Chief Minister of Delhi – Arvind Kejriwal,” Atishi said.
Atishi’s Parents are Terrorist Sympathizers, Anti Indian Army and Gilani Fanboys
Rajya Sabha member Swati Maliwal on Tuesday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for naming Atishi as the new chief minister of Delhi and claimed that her family had fought a battle to stop the hanging of convicted terrorist Afzal Guru.
“Today is a very sad day for Delhi,” Maliwal wrote on the social media platform X. “A woman whose family fought a long battle to save terrorist Afzal Guru from being hanged is being made the Chief Minister of Delhi. Her parents wrote mercy petitions to the Honorable President to save terrorist Afzal Guru. According to them, Afzal Guru was innocent and was framed as part of a political conspiracy.”
Atishi is the daughter of Delhi University professors Vijay Singh and Tripta Wahi, and both indeed have grave anti-national credentials.
Tripta Wahi was the convener of the committee that wanted Afzal Guru to be free of charges & Vijay Singh was a member too. Along with many liberals, they signed this mercy petition to President of India which seeked to set aside the punishment given to terrorist Afzal Guru.
Condemned the Judiciary after the Hanging of Afzal Guru: A year after the hanging of Afzal Guru, Tripta Wahi in a public meeting said that “Even the judiciary failed us on which we always believed. Every democratic institution failed us. After the attack, suddenly the Indian nationalism and Hindu Nationalism got together and made impossible for any human rights’ voices to be heard.”
Equally Disturbed by Pakistani Soldiers Dying on the Border: In 2016, Tripta Wahi told news magazine Frontline when she was asked what she thought of soldiers dying in Siachen Glacier, she said: “Yes, it disturbs me very much. But I get equally disturbed by Pakistani soldiers dying on the border.”
Soldiers Are Paid to Die: Tripta Wahi’s colleagues disclosed that at the time of the Kargil war, she had refused to donate money for the soldiers killed or maimed in the conflict. “Why do we need to pay them? These soldiers are paid to die,” she had remarked.
Close Relations with SAR Gilani: In 2016, a day after SAR Gilani was arrested under charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy and being part of an unlawful assembly, the police questioned Tripta Wahi, as she was present with Gilani on the dais & was part of an unlawful assembly in connection with an event organised at Press Club of India.
With the genes of such incredible parents – Atishi Marlena is sure to be quite revolutionary herself – afterall it is believed that she is named after famous communists Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin, given communist links of her parents.
