Azadi Ki Railgadi Aur Railway Station : to make people know the role of Indian Railways in the freedom movement

The objective of this effort is to make people know the role of Indian Railway in the freedom movement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in recent Mann Ki Baat, mentioned of ‘Azadi Ka Mahotsav’ which commemorates the 75th year of India’s Independence and how it is becoming mass movement. PM Modi’s 91st episode of ‘Mann ki Baat’ consisted of an interesting initiative called ‘Azadi Ki Railgadi Aur Railway Station’, the celebration that started on July 18 and ended on July 23.

The objective was to make people understand the role of Indian Railways in the freedom struggle.

PM Modi spread awareness regarding the involvement of 75 identified stations and 27 trains in the freedom struggle. And those 75 trains were decorated to celebrate the initiative of promoting awareness.

PM Modi while addressing the valour of freedom fighters mentioned the Gomoh Junction in Jharkhand which is now officially known as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Junction. The Kakori railway station in Uttrar Pradesh is associated with bravehearts like Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaq Ullah Khan. Vanchi Maniyachchi Junction in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu is name after freedom fighter Vanchinathan.

The sacrifice of freedom fighters were mentioned on the trains to display the courage and love of the people of country and that will impart the spirit of nationalism in the citizens.

PM Modi requested teachers to take students to show them the ‘Azadi Ki Rail’ and make them aware of the patriotism that should be imbibed in every person.

In all these 75 stations, photo exhibitions and selfie points have been arranged in the backdrop of ‘Azadi Ki Rail Gadi’. On 23rd every visitor was asked to share the event with members of the family.
