MHA sets up panel to probe violation of regulations by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation

The Bharaytiya Janata Party (BJP) has last month alleged that the Chinese embassy in India has been funding Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF).

Chariperson of RGF is Congress president Sonia Gandhi and its board has members as former PM Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had lashed out at the Congress after it was revealed that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation headed by interim party president Sonia Gandhi had received Rs 90 lakh from the Chinese Embassy. “10 years rule of Manmohan Singh government is littered with various evidence as to how the Congress tried to support China thereby making it earn tonnes of money by permitting the increase of trade deficit 33 times,” alleged Prasad.

BJP president JP Nadda, even released documents that he said showed that during the Manmohan Singh era, money from the Prime Minister’s relief fund was diverted and donated to the Rajiv Gandhi foundation.

Now, in a big developement Ministry of Home Affairs has set up an inter-ministerial committee to cordinate investigations into violations of various legal provision by Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
