Suspended HT Journalist plays Woman Victim Card, after making Derogatory tweet against Shri Krishna

It all started with a film “Krishna and His Leela” which was released on 25 June 2020 on Netflix. The film shows a man named Krishna as a womanizer who sleeps with multiple women. One of the girls he had an affair with was named Radha in the series.

While discussing or maybe debating upon the movie, the then Journalist of Hindustan Times, Shristi Jaswal uses derogatory words against Shree Krishna. She replies to one of the tweets, “Because this is what Krishna did. He was a womanizer, a fuckboi, and commitment phobic maniac. And I am a Hindu and I’ve read mythology.”

Here, clearly she is talking about Lord Shree Krishna and hurting the sentiment of billions around the world for whom Lord Shree Krishna is a Deity.

Gautam Aggarwal, ex-IT Head of BJP IP EXTENSION Mandal, Zila Shahdara, Delhi, registered a complaint against Srishti Jaswal.

After Srishti Jaswal’s tweet went viral, a few more complaints were registered against her.

Also, Hindustan Times has distanced itself from the tweet and suspended Srishti Jaswal from all her duties with immediate effect and a code of conduct committee has been set up to look into the issue.

Finally, Srishti Jaswal issued a statement on her Twitter account, which summarised that the tweet was not against Lord Shri Krishna but onto the character of the film. Further, she pointed out, she got rape threats for the same.

(Note: Rape threats to any women is a punishable offence and action should be taken against such individuals if at all it has happened.)

The statement and the apology still didn’t go well with the netizens, as they call it out as a Woman Victim Card.

There are more screenshot of tweets from Srishti Jaswal which have gone viral, which Trunicle couldn’t personally authenticate.

This is not the first time Netflix or other OTT platform have been accused of being Hinduphobic. Last year, September 2019, a prominent Hindu Activist and a former Shiv Sena IT Cell, had registered a complaint against Netflix. In his complaint given at Mumbai’s LT Marg police station, Solanki had cited examples of series like ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Leila’ and ‘Ghoul’.

“Almost every series on Netflix India is with the intention to defame the country on a global level. It is with deep-rooted Hinduphobia that the platform is portraying the nation in a bad light,” Solanki had stated in his complaint.
