In an unprecedented step, which might hurt Separatists and Pakistan, The Modi Government on Tuesday has notified new land rules governing municipal areas in Jammu and Kashmir allowing any Indian citizen to purchase non-agricultural land in the Union territory.

As per the notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, no domicile or permanent resident certificate is required for purchasing non-agricultural land in Jammu and Kashmir. However, agricultural land can only be purchased by agriculturalists or people engaged in farm-related activities.

The order comes into force with immediate effect. The General Clauses Act, 1897 applies for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for interpretation of laws in force in the territory of India, the order stated, reported Times Now.

Modi Government has transformed Jammu and Kashmir completely. Earlier they abrogated Article 370 and 35A, then Roshni Act was removed and now this new Clause has been passed which ensures all the Indians a legitimate right to buy land anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir. This is certainly a huge boost to the ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’ movement.
