Blue Revolution : PMMS scheme by Modi govt to boost exports in Fishery sector.

Blue revolution on the road of progress. After launching several schemes for the farmers, PM Modi has now announced a scheme for the marginal fishermen at the coastal areas. PM on Thursday announced ₹ 20,050 cr Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMS) to boost the production and exports from the fisheries sector.This initiative will benefit the fisherman who were unable to carry out fishing on a larger scale during covid times. The implementation of the package during 2020-21 to 2024 25 is an another step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.Of the total investments of about ₹ 12,340 crore will be invested for beneficiary oriented activities in marine inland fisheries and aquaculture while about ₹ 7,710 crores will be invested for fishing infrastructure.

As per PMO this is the largest ever investment made for the blue revolution under PMMSY. By 2024 25, with the implementation of PMMSY scheme,fish production is likely to get boost by additional 70 lakh tons giving rise to fisheries export earning to rupees 1 lakh crore. On 8 march 2020 PM Modi at public meeting in Diu had announced : ” We are bringing a scheme for the poor fisherman who cannot go deep into the sea due to the small boats and cannot catch enough fish.” Initiatives are also been made by Modi government to enhance the animal husbandry sectors in Bihar. A mobile app e- Gopala is introduced to provide all possible solution on livestock related issues.With investment of ₹ 60 crore and 75 acre land provided by the Bihar government, semen station was inaugurated with the state-of-the-art facilities in purnia. All these measures will lead India to reach different level not only in terms of being self reliant but also with the growth of export earnings & will also impact in the growth of our GDP as well.
