The Chennai Metro Mahaveer Club under Shri Mangalchandji Tater supports a monthly eye camp on the first Friday of each month. The camp’s goal was to identify and address eye-related issues while also providing free treatment to those in need.

The event was held at the RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation medical unit Manoharraj Kamala Kankaria RYA Cosmo Cancer Detection Centre, and the community response was overwhelming. Patients who were identified as needing them received free eye screenings, surgeries, and spectacles at the camp.

The screening was carried out by experienced ophthalmologists from Shankara Eye Hospital Pammal, who used cutting-edge technology to look for various eye-related issues. Those identified as needing additional treatment were referred for free eye surgeries, which will be performed by experienced surgeons from Shankara Eye Hospital. Following the surgeries, patients were given free spectacles to help them improve their vision. The spectacles were made to the patient’s specifications and prescription.

Umesh Agarwal, Project Secretary of RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation, stated that the NGO made all arrangements for the camp, including arranging for equipment, medical supplies, and personnel. The staff and volunteers were well-trained and gave the patients excellent care.

Over 103 patients received free eye care services as a result of the camp’s success. The patients expressed their appreciation for the services provided, as many of them could not otherwise afford these treatments.
