On March 20, a guy was charged with raping a woman in Pir Mahal, Toba Tek Singh district, Punjab province.

According to local news sources, the victim’s family had been approached by the suspect’s relatives for “forgiveness and reconciliation”.

The victim’s family shockingly agreed to the rapist’s release on the heinous condition that “her brother would repeat the same deed with the suspect’s sister,” according to dawn.com.

Following an agreement between the two families at a meeting, the brother allegedly had sex with the sister of the alleged rapist on March 21.

When the two families filed legal paperwork pledging not to file charges against one another, police learned about the matter.

Shaukat Ali Javed, a sub-inspector with the Pir Mahal Police, noticed the papers and informed his superiors about the family.

The meeting’s 12 attendees, including the four women—one of whom was the second rape victim—were all detained on Saturday.

The episode in Multan, a city in the south, last July, when a village council ordered the “revenge rape” of a 16-year-old girl, has eerie parallels to the current situation.

According to reports, the girl’s brother sexually raped a 12-year-old in front of her parents and 40 village council members.
