Rajewal forms a Political party and negotiating with AAP – Was Farmer’s protest an excuse to get political benefit and fight with Modi?

As expected, 22 Punjab farmer organizations have joined hands and floated their own political front, Samyukta Samaj Morcha. They have also announced that they will contest all 117 seats in the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.

A 78-year-old Bharatiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) president, Balbir Singh Rajewal has been declared as the chief of this political party.

These farmer bodies spearheaded a year-long farmer protest and were an active part of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM). The so-called farmer’s protest was against the Centre, and it was ended once PM Modi repealed these laws.

Rajewal is expected to become the Chief Minister face for these 22 Kisan unions and he is going to play a significant role in the Punjab polls. Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP is in close negotiation with Sanyukt Samaj Morcha and had reportedly offered to make him its CM candidate. Sanyukt Samaj Morcha is also trying hard to forge an alliance with AAP for the coming elections.

Rajewal does acquire the U-Turn specialties of Arvind Kejriwal. He was once in the favor of WTO and GATT recommendations on crop tariffs and trade, but later he changed his stance and started opposing them once he joined the farmer union.

A few weeks back he slammed Haryana’s farmer leader Gurnam Singh Chaduni over the launch of his political outfit. Chaduni has already announced that his party will content Punjab assembly elections. It seems Rajewal was not happy with Chaduni, and thus he has floated his own political party.

Was Farmers Protest an excuse to fulfill Farmer Leaders’ political ambitions?

Well, we are not saying this, but this is what is visible by the actions of these Farmer’ leaders. They orchestrated a year-long protest while denouncing any allegiance with any political party, and having any political ambitions.

However, their actions are showing their real face. They followed the route of Arvind Kejriwal, who floated his political party once the anti-corruption movement was finished, and since then he is doing everything to satiate his political ambitions.

There is no doubt, whether it was Kejriwal, Chaduni, or Rajewal, all have abused the passion of masses, attacked Modi, and fooled their supporters to fulfill their personal and political ambitions. Let’s see how far they can go.
