A massive controversy has erupted in Uttarakhand when the news broke about the namaz proceeding in Badrinath Dham. The locals in Joshimath are agitated with this news and several complaints have been lodged with the local Administration and Government to look into this matter immediately.

It is said that few Muslims have offered namaz inside the Badrinath campus and this has caused massive outrage in the local people. Police have already registered a case against 16 people under Disaster Management Act.

The Badrinath Dham is one among the Char Dham and it is undoubtedly a sacred place for every Hindu. It is shocking to see why such activity was allowed on the premises of Badrinath Temple.

Local Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) workers also met Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj on Wednesday and demanded a probe into allegations that some Muslim laborers offered namaz at Badrinath Dham on Eid-ul-Adha. Chamoli’s Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh Chauhan, however, claimed that nothing of the sort has happened.

Members of VHP, Bajrang Dal met the Cabinet minister during his visit to the district following claims on social media that some Muslim laborers have allegedly offered Namaz at the Badrinath shrine on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

Chamoli’s SP Chauhan clarified, “Muslim laborers engaged in building a parking lot close to the temple offered Namaz inside their rooms without using loudspeakers.” They also followed the Covid protocol of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, the police officer said.

However, this needs to be investigated thoroughly and stern action should be initiated against the culprits. Also, any such activity should be banned in and around the Badrinath Temple.
