Reportedly, the interception took place near Turi Tola, within the jurisdiction of the Nemiaghat police station in Giridih, Jharkhand, on Friday, December 1, 2023. The vehicles were allegedly en route to Bengal and Bangladesh, underscoring the trans-border nature of this illicit trade.

The appalling conditions under which these cows were transported depict a blatant disregard for animal welfare. The overcrowded vehicles not only subjected the cattle to immense stress but also led to fatalities among them due to the cramped and suffocating environment.
