RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation recently organised cataract surgeries and treatment free of cost at eye camps held at its permanent unit Shantidevi Jawaharmal Chandan Day Care & Diagnostic Centre Aynavaram under the auspices of ‘SRI BADAL CHAND SUGANKAWAR CHORDIA’ Scheme. A medical team led by President Kishore Dakliya of ‘Chennai Metro Mahaveer Club’ & ‘Shankara Eye Hospital Pammal’ came to permanent unit of RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation.
Foundation Secretary Umesh Agarwal added the medical team has made special arrangements to screen for specific eye diseases and disorders that have a higher risk of contracting. These include age-related macular degeneration, ocular manifestations of autoimmune diseases, cataract, dry eye, glaucoma, low vision, thyroid eye diseases and refractive errors. He added overall objective of the project is to reduce the burden of avoidable blindness among local community.
The camp conducted on September 2nd 2022 was sponsored by Shri.M Mahaveer Sancheti Kanchipuram. Around 71 persons were screened at the camp and 50 patients were selected for surgery. Foundation Secretary Umesh Agarwal, Senator Trustee Arun Bohra, Narendra Kawadia, Vinod Bhutoria attended the camp.
The NGO conducts free eye screening and cataract camps on the First friday of every month. The Foundation has successfully conducted 100 plus free screening camps with approximately 8300 patients benefited through these eye camps.
