Chhattisgarh Police has forcefully arrested Hindu religious leader Kalicharan Maharaj from Madhya Pradesh, four days after an FIR was registered against him for allegedly abusing Mahatma Gandhi. He is being brought to Chhattisgarh, where he would be taken to a court.
As per media reports, three separate police teams were sent to Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to arrest him. He was found 25 km from Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. He had taken a rented room near Bageshwar Dham. He was arrested at 4 am and is being brought to Raipur, where he is expected to reach by evening.

Kalicharan, who was a guest at the ‘Dharam Sansad’ organized in Raipur on December 25-26, where he allegedly abused Mahatma Gandhi and hailed Nathuram Godse for killing him. An FIR was registered against him under IPC Sections 505(2) and 294 on Sunday night based on a complaint by Congress leader Pramod Dubey.
A case was registered against Kalicharan in Maharastra’s Akola district too for his speech in Raipur.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has raised serious questions on the manner of Kalicharan’s arrest. Mishra said that the Chhattisgarh Police violated norms by not informing the Madhya Pradesh Police about the action against Kalicharan. In a tweet, he instructed the Madhya Pradesh director general of police to speak with his Chhattisgarh counterpart and register his protest.
In response to Mishra, Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel Thursday said, “Narottam Mishra should tell whether he is happy or sad about the arrest of the person who derogated Mahatma Gandhi? No rules have been violated and arrest made by Chhattisgarh police as per procedures.”
Why Maulana Saad and Owaisi are out?
Well, we will certainly not support any sort of abuse hurled at Mahatama Gandhi, but going by the action taken in this case, we would like to raise a serious question about the biased action taken by governments, law enforcement agencies, and the judiciary.
Maulana Saad organized an illegal Tablighi Jamaat procession in Delhi, amid the outbreak of Covid. He was responsible for a sudden spike of corona spread and his disciples were creating havoc in the capital. But unfortunately, he has been disappeared since then. Nobody knows where he is and what action has been taken against him by our government or judiciary.
Recently in an election rally in poll-bound UP, Owaisi threatened UP Police personnel saying, “I want to remind police officers that they need to know this fact that Yogi and PM Modi will not always be there…We Muslims are definitely compelled according to the times, but remember we are not going to forget your atrocities. We will remember your atrocities. Allah will destroy you with his power. Things will change, then who will come to save you? Yogi will go to his Mutt and Modi to the mountains. Then who will come to save you.”
Did you see any action against Owaisi? Obviously No
We are against this highly biased approach of our law enforcement agencies and governments. Why no action was taken against Owaisi and Maulana Saad? Just because they are Muslims.
Their acts and statements are highly provocative and divisive, still, no action was taken against them. This shows how biased our legal system is, and how it shields people from a specific community, all in the name of Secularism and Democracy.
