On Sunday, VHP and Bajrang Dal have orchestrated a Ghar Wapsi event where Nine members of a Christian family have been brought back into the fold of Hinduism. This function was held at Ram Bhajan Temple in Jananapur. This development comes days after the Karnataka government passed a historic anti-conversion bill in the assembly, which has strict provisions against those who are involved in illegal conversions.

As per Ram Bhajan temple administration, Jayasheelan, his wife Jayamma, their sons Prakash and Prabhakaran, and their daughters-in-law Shwetha Prakash and Lalita Prabhakaran were amongst the 9 people who were re-converted. Jayasheelan’s father has converted to Christianity 35 years ago, but his family is still following the Hindu religious practices.

The local Bajrang Dal leader Rajavan Vadivelu, who was the co-organizer of this event said that more families are planning to return to the folds of Hinduism. There are thousands of families, who were illegally converted to Christianity many decades back, and now they wanted to do Ghar Wapsi. These people were confused and under some sort of social fear, but VHP and Bajrang Dal are helping them to make the decision.

VHP and Bajrang Dal are contacting 100’s of people and persuading them to come back to Hinduism and live their life with utmost pride and sanctity. The VHP and Bajrang Dal will orchestrate another Ghar Wapsi event very soon, sai the Bajrang Dal leader.

If you remember, on November 28, VHP and Bajrang Dal were successfully able to bring 23 persons from five Christian families in Karwar’s Haliyal taluk to the fold of Hinduism. Anant Kumar Hegde, the BJP member of parliament for Uttara Kannada, presided over that event.

What is Ghar Wapsi?

Ghar Wapsi ( Hindi, meaning “Back to Home”) is a series of activities, facilitated by organizations such as Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Hindu Makkal Katchi, to facilitate the conversion of Christians and Muslims to Hinduism and Sikhism.
