Recently, TMC minister Parth Chatterjee was arrested by ED following the massive raids. The massive campaign carried out on Friday and caught the fire when ED addressed the issue publicly after the raid. Many residents were raided on Friday as part of a probe into alleged irregularities in recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff in the state-run schools through the school service commission (hereinafter referred as SSC).

The arrest however, had been made on concrete proof. Parth Chatterjee was arrested as the evidences directed the prima facie suspicion on him. Arpita Mukherjee who is close associate of Parth Chaterjee was raided and later found with Rs. 20 crore in cash in connection with the alleged teacher recruitment scam.

The central agency arrested Chaterjee from his residence in Kolkata. Since the team had been suspecting and following the investigation procedure.

Apart from Parth Chaterjee and his associate Mukherjee, the central agency raided C Adhikary (Minister of state of education), MLA Manik Bhattacharya and others.

Chaterjee in May was interrogated by the CBI on twice occasions in connection with the alleged scam.

Chatterjee, who is also the secretary general of TMC, was summoned by CBI after the division bench of Calcutta High Court upheld the decision of single bench that directed the probe to be done by central agency to inquire into alleged illegal appointments.

The agency began a coordinated search operation at the premises of Chatterjee and Mukherjee.

The central agency in connection with SSC scam took the assistance of bank officials to count the seized cash using machines.

ED held incriminating documents, records, details of unregistered companies, foreign currency and gold from the premises of persons in connection with the scam.

This case directed later to the ED after an FIR by the CBI, which was first directed by the Calcutta High Court as abovementioned.

The TMC describing this raid as a ‘ploy’ by the BJP government at the Centre to trouble its political opponent.

The information however have been despised by public when it was confirmed that the leader of TMC duped lakhs of qualified youth and handed over their jobs to incompetent and ineligibles.
