West Bengal Local body election violence – Devdutta Maji and several other BJP leaders arrested by Mamata’s Police

West Bengal is known for extreme violence during its electoral process. Currently West Bengal is undergoing elections of 108 civic bodies in 20 districts, that involves 95 lakh voters. As expected from early morning to late in the afternoon, there were several instances reported where TMC workers hurled crude bombs, beaten BJP supporters, EVMs were attacked, and agents and candidates of BJP were driven out of the polling booths.
As per the media reports, the violence was erupted at Dhulian in Murshidabad and Dalkhoola in Uttar Dinajpur district when the Trinamool Congress supporters clashed with the supporters of independent candidates. The situation spiraled out of control and the police had to fire tear gas shells and use force to control the situation.

Several persons were injured in Kamarhati in the violence in the North 24 Parganas. Apart from crude bomb explosions, people were seen attacking vehicles and motorbikes in Kamarhati which is located on the northern fringes of Kolkata. Crude bombs were hurled near the polling booths in Halisahar and Garulia municipalities.
BJP severely condemned this violence, and it was conducting peaceful protests against the TMC party and the Mamata Government, that always carry out such violence against the opposition parties.
West Bengal Police arrested the BJP Leader Devdutta Maji and hundreds of other BJP members who were protesting against TMCs /Mamata Banerjee’s Electoral Violence, Malpractice and Rigging.

Mamata Banerjee is following the same path of violence that was orchestrated by the Left parties, and she is of view that by carrying out such violence she can buzz off her opposition parties. However, such acts can’t go like this in democracy, and very soon she is going to face the music.
