Mohammad Zubair Case: Strong backup support?

The Supreme Court directed the release of Alt News cofounder Mohammed Zubair on interim bail in relation to First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against him in Uttar Pradesh.

While hearing the case Hon’ble Justice Chandrachud: We can’t say that he won’t tweet again.

After receiving a complaint from a social media user, the Delhi Police detained Mohammed Zubair, a co-founder of AltNews, on June 27 for a tweet that was alleged to have hurt religious emotions.
Mohammed Zubair, a co-founder of AltNews, has filed a petition with the Supreme Court seeking that all six charges against him that the Uttar Pradesh police have brought because of his “controversial” tweets be dismissed. In Muzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Sitapur, Lakhimpur, and Hathras in the state of Uttar Pradesh, six FIRs were lodged against him

The special public prosecutor argued that Zubair had deliberately put out a tweet to hurt religious sentiments and target the central government and that Zubair received money from “gumnam accounts” which are still being probed.

The interim bail of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair was extended by the Supreme Court on July 12 until further orders in a case brought against him in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly inflaming religious sentiments.

Interestingly Zubair has had two SC hearings during his 23 days in jail, one of which was said to be an urgent matter. The third hearing will take place tomorrow, July 20, 2022. And each time, he has been granted a pardon.

Zubair has a pattern that shows his hatred and disrespectful attitude towards other religions via his tweets and social media posts. She has been accused many times of hurting the religious sentiments of people.

With a pile of cases pending and very limited time where the courts especially the Supreme court claims to hear only limited matters and cases take up to a whole lifetime, the Zubair case has been proceeded with very rapidly.

Though such prompt response and hearings are appreciated for the regulation of the legal system in the country if exercised in every case.
