Yogi Ji has made this announcement on Saturday (January 8, 2022). People must remember that on November 2, 1990, many Kar Sevaks were killed in the firing during the Ram temple movement.

This is so heartening to know that this memorial will be built along with the construction of a grand Ram temple in Ayodhya. Along with this, statues of sacrificers will also be installed in the temple premises so that people can take inspiration from the sacrificed Karsevaks.

Chief Minister had said that I was a Hindu even before becoming the Chief Minister and am still a Hindu, and will remain a Hindu. He had said, proudly say we are Hindus.

These Kar Sevaks tried to hoist the saffron flag on the disputed structure. Then an attempt was made to remove the crowd and control them, but the crowd of Ram devotees kept on increasing and raising the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans.

One group was led by Vinay Katiyar, the then leader of Bajrang Dal. The Kothari brothers were also included in this group, and before they could move towards the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi complex, the police stopped them. The Kar Sevaks opposed the police action, clashes also took place. Then devotees sat on the road near Hanumangarhi and started protesting while performing bhajan-kirtan.

The then Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav ordered the police to open fire on the crowd. A stampede broke out after the police action. Many people died in the stampede on the Saryu Bridge, but the Kothari brothers waved saffron on the structure of the disputed Babri Masjid. Both of them also became victims of police bullets.

The Kothari brothers were hit in the head and neck. According to the official figures, 16 Kar Sevaks have died. Since then every year on 2nd November, Martyr’s Day is also celebrated in the memory of Kar Sevaks.
